In my marketing and when talking to prospective clients, I say that I charge the standard commission for my city. Is that OK?

No. There is no such thing as an industry-standard commission rate. Sellers decide what fee they are willing to pay for their broker’s services and whether that listing broker should offer compensation to a broker who brings a buyer to close the transaction and if so, how much compensation the listing broker should offer. Compensation is always negotiable, and consumers are encouraged to talk to their broker to understand and agree upon how they expect to be compensated.
